Q: What is iXtreme Firmware?

A: iXtreme firmware was created to fight the attempts made by micro$oft to ban people on XBL
According the C4E its supposed to be much more safer than the original Xtreme Firmware, and block attemps made by micro$oft to detect if you are using modified Firmware.
At the moment there is only iXtreme FW out for all drives...
Current Version of iXtreme FW is 1.2 RevC for Samsungs and 1.2 B for Hitachi it can be found on Xbins
it is recommeneded users update to this if there not Banned from XBL already...

A:Currently there is only the Benq drive that you can't mod with a modchip or flash in anyway. They are rare right now and only in the very new systems. Just look at the faq on how to identify drives. If yours is not of those don't buy it. Right now they are quite rare.

A:Although the Benq is silent and the newest it isn't moddable so its least preferred. The Hitachi has reports of issues such as noise and is a bit less preferred than the top of the list Samsung because it is also a older model and its firmware unlike xtreme can't play dvd5. You should aim to get a Samsung over the other drives. Look in the faq for identifying drives.

if you have the ixtreme,then you need to patch iso's even if you are not planning on going online
If you are definetly not using the 360 for online play,then the extreme firmware is for you (iso's dont need patching)
